Astrid graduated with a first class honours degree in Plant Biochemistry, Genetics and Physiology at the University of Freiburg in Germany and subsequently obtained her PhD at the University of York in Plant Biology. She also undertook further post-doctoral research in plant biochemistry also in York. She joined Symbiosis in 2012.

Astrid has particular experience in handling plant related technologies, including transgenic plants, biofuels, plant derived products and also including drug reformulation, nutraceuticals, small molecule therapeutics and biopharmaceuticals. Her work primarily involves drafting UK patent applications and prosecuting applications in the UK, Europe and across the World. She has also assisted in European and Australian Opposition procedures.

Astrid’s clients are diverse and include Universities, start-up companies and large pharmaceutical companies. Her extensive academic research career makes her particularly suited to dealing with academic inventors, frequently providing IP seminars.

Astrid is based in our York office.
